Don’t forget the Triple P -Seminar

Parents are invited to a free seminar on Tuesday 21st January  in the school at 8p.m. A triple P seminar is a great introduction to positive parenting because it’s packed with practical ideas to help make raising children easier.

Congrats

Congratulations to all the boys and girls in 2nd and 3rd class who completed projects this week and told us all about them at assembly today . Mr. Slevin’s  class studied Egypt and had facts and information that enlightened us . Ms. Forde’s class having written diaries  about the titanic voyage. Then they completed projects . They worked in groups of three or four and did some wonderful research . They had great fun .

Planxty Irwin

Mr. Costelloe’s class played Planxty Irwin by Turlough O’Carolan on the tin whistle to close our assembly today . Well done to them . See our stars of the week for this week below .

Mathletics

Mathletics has really taken hold in Emo National school . We had our first three pupils to receive a silver certificate this week . Well done to Adam Quigley, Victoria Moore and Emily O’Neill Delaney . Fourth class received 12 bronze certificates this week .

You’ll be hearing lots from your child about prediction in the coming weeks . This is the first in a set of comprehension strategies we are teaching the children throughout the school .  This strategy involves the ability of readers to get meaning from a text by making informed predictions. Good readers use predicting as a way to connect their existing knowledge to new information from a text to get meaning from what they read.
