Dear Parents,
Please see some important notices for your attention:

Just a reminder that school is closed for pupils on this Friday 25th March due to staff in-service.
Good luck to the boys and girls in sixth class who are making their Confirmation tomorrow. We do hope families have lovely day.
The boys and girls in 2nd class made their First Confession on Monday , March 14th St. Paul’s church in Emo. Our thanks to Ms. Greene, Ms. Ciara , Ms. Orla , Fr. Dooley and Fr. O’Neill.
Lá Glas
We had some lovely activities in the school to coincide with Seachtain an Gaeilge and St. Patrick’s day. We had music, songs, Irish dancing and a Tráth na gCeist for senior classes. We also completed our football leagues. The total amount of money raised for the Parents Association was €301.60. Our thanks to all those who contributed and we would also like to thanks parents that contributed to the Ukrainian refugee appeal previously.
Code of Behaviour /Anti bullying review
Our school has recently reviewed our Code of behaviour and anti-bullying policy. As you are aware we implemented our new code of behaviour in this school year and it was interesting to get the views of our children from 2nd to 6th class regarding same.
The findings are as follows:
Children unanimously agreed that our school is welcoming and safe. The children said that 95% of the children behave well in class. All children say that there are clear rules against hurting other people by what we say or do. All children say that they learn about different kinds of bullying in school. 97% of children know that they can get help from teacher or another adult in school if someone is bullying them. 99.% of children say that all the pupils in their class are treated fairly and respectfully.
There was a final question where the children could comment or ask a question about the behaviour in our school. There were some interesting queries and comments and our staff will follow up on those in the coming weeks.
The Board of management wishes to encourage all parents to read our child protection policy at the following link. https://emons.ie/school-policies/child-protection-guidelines-and-procedures/
We also encourage parents to read through our anti-bullying policy with your child. https://emons.ie/school-policies/emo-national-school-anti-bullying-policy/
Teachers complete awareness raising lessons in relation to bullying behaviour at different stages throughout the year. These lessons generally take place at the following times:
- September, on return to school
- November, after the mid-term break
- January, after the return to school
- After the Easter holidays
The key message to parents and children remains the same. If your child is getting a NO feeling from another child, you need to let us know. It is not the norm and children need to tell an adult. We also need to know the context, where and when it happened etc. You can inform teacher through Aladdin or phone the school to speak with me. School Phone Number 0578646868.
Assessment Tests
Standardised testing for all children from 1st to 6th class will take place on the following dates. We request that parents avoid these dates when booking appointments etc. for children.
English testing – 10, 11th and 12th May.
Maths testing – 31st May and 1st June
