Staffing Appointments

I am delighted to confirm that I have been appointed as the new principal of Emo National School. In the same way that Mr. Duggan spoke of the privilege it was for him to lead and manage this school, it is now a privilege for me to step into the role. Over the last 14 years I have become very invested in this school community and look forward to continuing to work alongside staff, parents and the wider school community in our endeavours to create the best learning environment for the children.

We welcome Ms. Amy Byrne to our staff and wish her all the best as she settles in to her new role as SET for 1st and 2nd class.

Most importantly, you can access application forms at this link. Please note you will need original birth certificate to accompany junior infant enrolments. Our admission notice outlines all the important dates. We will begin accepting applications from the 25th October.

Flu Vaccine

Dr. David Booth will be organising for the administration of the Flu Vaccine, for those who have returned consent forms, in our school this Thursday. As this vaccine is a nasal spray, there is no need for parents to be present with children at the time.

Student Council

Ms. Casey held a meeting of our new Student Council recently. They will be busy making suggestions and discussing the important school issues of the day. The Student Council for this year is as follows:

1st Class: Emily Mortimer and Samuel Von Homeyer

2nd Class: Lily Strong and Frank Mac Eoin

3rd Class: Lucia Mooney and Finn McCarthy

4th Class: Juliette Finane and Evan O’Connor

5th Class: Rachel Dwyer and Patrick Lawlor

6th Class: Laura Meredith and Patrick Lynch

Activities

Swimming is ongoing for 1st -3rd classes with their final session this Thursday 24th.

Mr Lynch’s class have two more sessions and will finish on Thursday, Nov. 7th.

Our thanks to our Parents Association who support these activities for us.

Parents Association

Following their recent AGM on Oct. 9th, there has been new officers elected to our Parents Association.

Treasurer: Amie Colgan

We look forward to working with the new officers, as we continue to collaborate in ways that support the children in the school.

Our thanks to outgoing officers, John Whyte (Chairperson), Peter Donnelly (Secretary) and Brian Fenlon (Treasurer) for their work over the last three years. We thank them, and also other group members, for their time, effort and initiative in organising numerous events and activities.

Our staff and pupils know how lucky we are to have such an excellent group of parents working in the background.

School Calendar

Mid-term break: School closes at 2.30p.m on Friday 25th October. School will re-open on Monday, 4th November.
