Dear Parents,

We’re in the middle of advent at the moment and there are wonderful Christmas displays all over the school. At assembly this morning Conor Dooley explained all about the advent wreath and lit the two purple candles. We also prayed for Fr. Dooley’s mother, Brigid who passed away yesterday. We had some lovely Christmas songs from junior infants and first classes. Third and fifth brought their beautiful Christmas art to assembly and we heard some of the report writing from third class. Jamie McMahon (6th class) explained how he has been teaching some coding to third class. They thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and fourth class are already looking forward to their turn after Christmas.

Imeachtaí na Nollag: Christmas Activities

Our thanks to Gabriel for setting up our school crib. We thank Ms. Hooban, Ms Maher, Ms. Mary, Ms. Anne and Ms. Delal for the wonderful decorations that they put up around the school.

The Parents’ Association committee are very excited to announce that they are hosting the annual Christmas party for the children in the school on Wednesday 18th December We will be joined by special guest, Santa Claus, who arrives to the school that morning, with festive cheer. I wonder what mode of transport he will choose this year? Children may wear a Christmas jumper instead of a tracksuit top, if they wish on the day. The school calendars have been distributed and look fantastic. Ciara McMahon is available at the school at 1.30pm & 2.30pm for anyone wishing to purchase a school calendar (€10). The Parents Association committee wish to sincerely thank Mr. Aaron Leavy Photographer & Ms. Aine O’Reilly of Aine Graphics for their excellent assistance, creativity & professionalism in producing the school calendar.

In conjunction with the Parents association the pupils of the school have been considering and discussing the children and families who are not so fortunate at Christmas. The Parents Association committee have saved on the cost of Santa’s transport, selection boxes and big games this year. It will make a donation on the children’s behalf to Laois Down Syndrome and Kolbe School in Portlaoise.
