Dear Parents,

There are some important notices which I would like to bring to your attention.

Féilire na Scoile: School Calendar

The return date for the beginning of the next school year will be Thursday 27th August. We are very hopeful that this will be a full return to school although guidelines from the Department have not been issued yet.

Meeting for new Junior Infant parents.

On Wednesday night 17th June next we are proposing to meet with parents of our new junior infants. We are requesting that one parent only from each family attend this meeting. This meeting will take place in the school hall @ 7.30p.m. and we will follow all HSE protocols for the meeting. Unfortunately, children may not attend although we do hope to have an opportunity to meet them in school before our official return to school On August 27th .

New School Management System

Over the coming weeks we will be migrating to a new school management system called Aladdin. Some parents may be familiar with it as it is used in post primary schools as well as primary schools. You will receive a note by e-mail which will outline the steps you need to  take and it will involve downloading an app onto your phone. More on this later.

Reports, booklists etc .

Next week you will receive your child’s school report in the post. School requisites for next year are also included with the reports. All classes are included in our book rental scheme. The scheme has served us well and hopefully will continue into the future.

School Uniform

Subsequent to a survey of our parents earlier on in the year, our Parents association have been looking at changing the school uniform and are happy to inform you that the school uniform from this September will be tracksuit only. Please see the details below.

Please label all of your child’s belongings especially tops. This may be time consuming but it will help your child to mind their things and it will also save you having to replace things.

6th Class Leaving

May and June are usually a chance for our 6th class children to enjoy their last few weeks in school. They have sadly missed out on that this year but we are still planning a short graduation ceremony here in the school on Wednesday 24th June at 7p.m. Details regarding the arrangements will be sent on next week.

The staff and I would like to wish them the best of luck on their onward journey. With sixth class departing we are also losing some parents. A special thank you to them for their support and involvement in school life over the duration of their child’s education here in Emo.
