Please see below a number of important dates for your diary:

Monday 16th March – School holiday

Tuesday 17th March is a public holiday.

Wednesday 25th March– Staff in-service for the New Language Curriculum. The school will be closed to children on the day.

Friday 15th May- Grandparents day.

Monday 18th May –  Staff in-service for the New Language Curriculum. The school will be closed to children on the day.

Week of 27th April – Standardised Assessment tests in English

Week of  25th May – Standardised Assessment tests in Maths

Lá Glas

Next Friday, the 13th we are organising a Lá Glas where children are encouraged to wear green into school on the day. Our Parents Association will not be collecting €2 on the day. The Parents Association would like to thank you for the wonderful support for the recent Cake and book Sale.They will be making a contribution to some planting that the children will be doing when the weather picks up.

Céad Faoistin; First Confession

First Confession will take place on Thursday 19th March in St. Paul’s church in Emo @8.15 p.m. Sixth class continue their preparations for their Confirmation which takes place on Wednesday 1st April @2p.m. We are delighted that Bishop Denis will be in attendance for same.

Cúrsai Spóirt; Sports News

The brighter days sees the return of hurling/camogie. Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie games will commence on the week of the 23rd March. Football continues on Wednesdays for first and second class.

Cuairteoirí : School visits

Mary Dillon will complete a programme with 4th, 5th and 6th classes starting next week which supports the Relationships and Sexuality Education in the school. The programme is called In My Own Shoes. A separate letter will issue to parents in these classes.

Curaclam na Scoile ; School Curriculum

Gaeilge 

Seachtain na Gaeilge takes place in our school both this week and next. As you are aware we are continuing with our School Improvement Plan for Gaeilge and we are happy with its progress. Please see some useful information and links to practical helpful websites here  

 Swimming 

The children are completing their swimming lessons in Portarlington and I would like to thank the many parents who helped out. We would also like to thank the Parents Association who have kindly subsidised the lessons.

Health Notice 

Both staff and children are continuing to practice good handwashing techniques and coughing and sneezing protocols. You can helps us by reiterating the messages in the posters below. Many thanks for your help.
