Please see some important notices for your attention.
Although the days are cold at the moment we are delighted to notice the brightening mornings and slight stretch in daylight hours. We request that children wear an extra layer under their t-shirt in this weather. We also urge parents , grandparents and childminders who are walking children to school to be careful of footpaths and slippy manhole covers.

We welcomed our new secretary, Gráinne Clancy to the school this month. We wish her well in her new role. The school secretary may be contacted on 057 8646868 during school hours.
Comhbhrón
Our school staff and school community were saddened at the recent death of Paddy Earley. Our thoughts and prayers are with Carina, Stephen and Noah at this time.

Confirmation ( Sixth class parents please note)
The enrolment Mass for Confirmation is Saturday 20th January (next Saturday) at the 7.30pm Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Emo.
The following are key dates when the school will be closed this term.
- Friday 19th January ( Staff in-service for Maths Curriculum )
- Monday 5th February ( Public Holiday )
- Thursday 15th and Friday 16th February ( Mid-term break )
- March 8th ( Referendum )
- March 18th St. Patrick’s day holiday.
Buíochas
Our Parents Association recently contributed €8000 to our Autism class to help with necessary purchases . Our class libraries were also replenished in the school recently with the support of our Parents Association. We spent €3266-67 on new books for the class libraries and we were delighted to receive €2000 from our Parents Association for same.
Our Parents Association recently received a donation of €500 from The Gatehouse Walking group. The funds were raised throughout the year on various health competitions. Our school is very appreciative of the support.

Our staff are continuing with their work on the Social , Personal and Heath Education Policy at the moment.

Catholic Schools Week will take place from Sunday 21 to Saturday 27 January 2024 on the theme of Catholic Schools as Communities of Service.

The attendance for the school year up to last Friday was 95.6% .
Snámh agus Iománaíocht
Swimming is ongoing for 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Our thanks to our Parents Association who have subsidised the cost of same by ten euro. Football lunchtime leagues will continue this term and we look forward to Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie training in February.
Bluiríní
- Parents are reminded that shoes with velcro straps are more suitable for children that cannot tie their laces yet.
- Each child should have a small packet of tissues for use during the day.
- Congratulations to Briana O’Reilly who was swimming in the Leinster schools competition last weekend and got two new personal bests in her events, freestyle and breaststroke . Well done Briana!
- We are part of the “Say yes to Languages ” initiative promoted by the Dept. of Education and Skills. Over the next 8 weeks 5th and 6th class will get an opportunity to learn French. We are grateful to Mr. Slevin and Agnes Connolly for facilitating this initiative.
